History of the Boxer brewery

1960
The Brasserie du Boxer SA was founded on April 6, 1960.
The brewery was named after the favorite dog of the founder, Mr. A. Heusser. He wanted to transpose into the philosophy of the company the qualities he discovered in his dog: loyalty, fidelity, protection of freedom and tenacity.
The dog was called Aramis and was born on April 14, 1951. Its sepulture is still today on the grounds of the brewery.

1962
Start of the production and distribution of the Boxer Beer.
The normal beer was called EXPORT and the finer beer SELECT.

1982
The brewery has been sold to Mr. Jean-Pierre D’Aubreby, proprietor of the brewery “ la Brasserie des Enfants de Gayant” of Douai in the northern part of France.

1987
The new beer PREMIUM was launched.

1988
The first 33cl swing top bottle was introduced in a case of 10 bottles.

1989
Production and distribution of the beer GOLD with a lower alcohol content.

1990
Production and successful introduction of the “Winter Beer” which is called today “ LA FORTE” (8% vol. alc.).

1994
The Indian group V. Sharma from Bombay purchased the brewery.

1997
The brewery changed hands. Swiss investors bought the brewery and changed its name into “Bière du Boxer SA”.

The dog reappeared on the beer labels.

1998
Creation of a beer with hemp flavor, the "HACIENDA", which is less bitter than the normal beer.

Introduction of the 12,5 litre keg “keggy” which is particularly useful for private parties and small restaurants.

2000
Introduction of our dark beer “BRUNETTE”.

2001
Exclusive distrib ution rights of the German breweries „C. & A. Veltins“ and „Gebr. Maisel“

2002
Creation of a shrink pack 8x25cl which is particularly interesting for the retail trade. It is available with Boxer OLD and BRUNETTE.

2003
For Christmas a "Christmas beer" has been introduced successfully (pack of 8x25cl, 33cl, 50cl).

2006
Introduction of a 6x33cl Pack in no deposit swing top bottles with colored tops, filled with PREMIUM beer.

2008
Euro-Foot 2008, Introduction of our 6x33cl Pack GOAL in a no deposit swing top bottle with football shaped tops.
